Bohemian Istanbul
We wander down from Galata into the gallery district of Karaköy, past Tophane's old fountains and into the antique alleys of Çukurcuma — the neighborhood Orhan Pamuk made famous with his Museum of Innocence. Along the way we stop at family-run shops that have been here for generations, taste a few things we pass (a simit, a meze, a strong coffee), and talk about how Istanbul's creative class has reshaped these streets in the last twenty years.
